Foodie Pseudery (30)
This glorious bit of foodie pseudery is on the website for a new-ish restaurant, Switch, in Dubai. The designer writes:
I wanted Switch to be a strong, symmetrical soft organic womb-like space composed of a continuous, undulating wall that wraps around the entire restaurant.
The food sounds equally bizarre:
To titillate distinguished taste buds, a curved Mediterranean Fusion menu was created with a touch of Asian feel.
What the hell is a ‘curved Mediterranean Fusion menu’?

Seriously, someone needs to do more food satire when there’s such an abundance of raw material. Classic.
I agree. The fact that I’ve managed to keep up this series for more than a year says a LOT about how bad food writing can be.
It sounds like a place that would make me feel sea-sick. Undulating walls and curved menus will probably not whet my appetite.
Perhaps we could make an edition of the Food Programme just based on a year of this hysterical nonsense…. Be a lot of fun
That would be WONDERFUL (I would love to do it) – and there’s just so much material. I’d really like to include something about Ruth Bourdain too – however he/she may be.
I postulate that the designers of both space and menu are both Mediterranean and like to play with Asians on earthquake prone islands…
